Tri-met Bus hits pedestrians, killing two

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS) – Two people were killed and three others injured when a city bus ran over a group of pedestrians in Portland, Oregon late Saturday night.

 

Police say the Tri-Met bus was turning left onto a street when it hit the people crossing the street. Officers found several people trapped beneath the bus.

 

A 26-year-old woman and 22-year-old woman died at the scene. Their names have not been released.

 

A 22-year-old man was taken to a hospital and was listed as critical. Two other people in their 20s were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Police said speed doesn’t appear to be a factor in the accident. So far no arrests have been made.
