SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – A 6-year old boy is in critical condition after he was hit by an SUV in Salt Lake.

Police say the boy was walking his bike across the street. His mother was roller blading at his side. That’s when the dark colored SUV hit the boy and knocked him out of the crosswalk.

“I called 911 and was standing with the mother, while I was on the phone,” said Chad Morishita who witnessed the crash, “and the child was actually in and out of consciousness for the first couple of minutes, before the ambulance arrived.”

The 6-year old was transported to Primary Children’s Medical Center.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene. Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Salt Lake Police.
