As reported by David Shepherd:

A Valley man is dead following an ATV accident in Clay County Saturday.

blue atvPolice say the male victim was ridding his ATV in a wooded area off of CR 1350 N about five miles north of Brazil when it appears he lost control. The ATV flipped and pinned the man in a creek bed. Police believe gas from the ATV was leaking out after the crash, eventually igniting a brush fire.

Police do not know if the impact of the crash or the fire that followed caused the victim’s death. The Clay County Sheriff’s Department and conservation officers are investigating the crash.  At this time, they believe it was just a tragic accident. Police are not releasing the man’s name pending family notification. All we know right now is that he’s in his 40’s.

An autopsy will be performed sometime this week.  Police will not know the exact cause of death or if alcohol or drugs were involved until the autopsy.
